Rob returned to Northumbria nearly 30years after graduating from the BA Creative Arts course, having followed a career encompassing photography, broadcast media and music production. After recently completing the MA Creative & Cultural Industries Management course he has worked at the BxNU Institute, production managing events in the Experimental Studio at BALTIC 39.
In the late 1980s his degree course focused on 'taking art to the community' (sic), while his later postgraduate research looked at the nature of participation: testing its definitions and presumptive primacy within the sphere of public arts funding. Now, he has a supporting role in BxNU's artistic and curatorial research, pursuing new, more collaborative ways of working; with groups and individuals from the wider artistic community in the North East, as well as from within BALTIC and Northumbria.
