The BxNU Institute (formed through the partnership between Northumbria University and Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead), in collaboration with The University of Aberdeen’s Centre for Citizenship, Civil Society and the Rule of Law, and Edinburgh College of Art, is pleased to announce an innovative commission. It will be of particular interest to people critically concerned with ideas of power, domination, and the glorification of violence in the arts, and in culture more broadly. In November 2021 a citizens’ jury was assembled in Newcastle-upon-Tyne using random selection among members of the general public.
At their first face-to-face meeting the jury of twelve considered controversial commissioning themes and selected one by majority vote, they then agreed on the wording of the objective for this international call for a public-interest arts project concerning Video/Computer Gaming. The commission is worth £8000 GBP.
Applications for this commission worth £8000 (GBP) must be written in English but the award is open to proposals worldwide. The previous deadline of October 15th 2023 has been extended until 20 January 2024.
